Marine Superintendent

Stena Line Ship Management is now looking to hire a Marine Superintendent. As Marine Superintendent your main responsibilities will be to support the vessels in your group in maintaining, developing and improving the company’s safety culture. In the role as Marine Superintendent you will also contribute and develop Stena Line´s vision to be even more safety driven in all aspects.

Through collaboration and communication you will be a dynamic link between the shore based organization and the vessels, you will monitor that the company’s policies and processes are complied with.

Main responsibilities

  • Assist Safety Manager in planning, executing and following up audits and inspections and monitoring that the vessels respond to any deviation.
  • Manage and analyze accident -and incident reports.
  • Manage and update the company´s various approvals from external parties.
  • Act as temporary DP/CSO.
  • In cooperation with Safety Manger liaise with classification societies, flag state administrators and other authorities.
  • Manage different daily safety related matters.
  • Organize for fulfilling training requirements regarding safety and environment.
  • Be a part of the Stena Line Emergency Response Team.

Required Qualifications

You are a trained marine officer and have worked several years onboard. Previous experience of working in passenger / ro-pax ships is an advantage.

Documented training for DP, CSO, experience as auditor as well as experience in Docmap is a merit.

The service requires you to have a deep understanding and an extensive knowledge in safety and environmental shipping issues. You also have good knowledge of the regulations that govern shipping in terms of safety- and work environment, both nationally and internationally.
In addition, we expect that you have a good ability to communicate in speech and in writing in both Swedish and English and that you feel comfortable with public appearances. You also have good ability and experience in working with MS Office.

Personal qualities

Personally you are a natural team-player and enjoy cooperating in your work. You are flexible, communicative and are used of working in a fast paced environment where you need to make decisions independently and quickly. You also have a desire for continuous learning and continuous evaluation of your own work.

Practical information

The service is a permanent position starting at the earliest. You will be part of the Safety Department, based at the head office in Gothenburg. You will report to the company’s Safety Manager. Travelling occurs in the service and work may sometimes be needed on out of office hours.
